I could use some help with my torches. I’ve had my tank setup for over 2 years now. Never have had issues growing coral but just recently my torches have slowly had there flesh receding from the bottom up the will still completely extend during the day but are slowly losing there big flesh bands over time. There isn’t any brown jelly disease here are my parameters.

Alk-8.3

Calcium-430

Mag-1400

Nitrate- 8

Phosphate- .10

Salinity- 1.026

Temp- 78 Fahrenheit

Any help would be appreciated again the fully extend and act fine during the day but are slowly losing the flesh band and just kinda slowly die off.

I use tropic marin pro reef salt and do a 20% water change every 1 - 2 weeks. Dosing all for reef. I feed frozen food once a day and alternate with mysis flakes and pellets.

Also there are no external parasites that I can see like flatworms. I also have other euphylia in the tank that are having no issues like my gold hammer colony flesh band looks great.

How is the flow where the torch is? How about the PAR? I was having a similar issue w/ my torches and I brought them down in par a tad and got a touch less flow on them and it's doing better now. My tank parameters are similar to yours.

They are in moderate flow it doesn’t blast them and the par is around 150 to 200

Yah, I mean, mine sit at like 250 par. The only thing about mine is that my flow for my torches comes from underneath due to where I put it in the flow. This seems to keep it happy as opposed to side based flow?

Take that for what it's worth because as you know, there's a thousand and 2 ways of doing everything.

Do you have any peppermint shrimp? Sometimes they can eat torchs (they ate mine.)
