Hey,
I had a emerald crab, who died of old age. I was wondering I loved how the crab looked, but it was never active because it was nocturnal, is there any kind of crab that's very active during the day and put a lot? If there are any reef safe as well I would like that if not, not a big deal

Within reason, crabs kind of do their own thing. They're obviously active during feeding time.

I think most crabs tend towards nocturnal or at best are rather cryptic. My porcelain crabs you could see doing their waving thing during the day, but they still stay hunkered down under rock overhangs and in the shadows.

I agree, try feeding the tank and watch the critters come out of hiding; best part of reefkeeping :)

Do porcelain crab come out the most rather than other crabs?

Oh I heard they hide it anemones do I need to get one I can

I had a porcelain in a nem and it was always out. If you pair them you’ll see your crab.

It’s an old bad picture but here…

I just evicted an emerald crab for chewing on my acro. He’s now in my sump until I get him to a lfs. Probably won’t risk it again

Electric blue hermits are super active and are constantly scavenging. Haven’t had any issues with him picking at any coral

Yeah agree with that, I had two crabs, got rid of my Halloween as he was just too active (all over my corals) kept the electric blue as you say he is still quite active but doesn’t seem to want to crawl all over my corals.

Tbh I wouldn’t get another crab, they can kill other clean up crew members, eat corals and climb over corals and need replacement shells provided to them, a conch can be as entertaining as a crab without all the down sides.
