I have noticed this morning an ulcer type hole in their side of my Weedy Rhinopias. It looks to have occurred overnight and the white centre of it seemed to have ejected by about midday (second image). Has anyone any thoughts what this is. No issues with appetite and looks healthy. It has eaten a large meal a day or so ago.

This looks to be Post-injury and has now become infected. I suggest treatment in a separate tank using Seachem neoplex with added aeration using air stone and focusing on water quality with reliable test kit

Thanks, unfortunately I've only got Metroplex and Kanaplex curently due to difficulty obtaining them this side of the pond. Would either of them suffice?

Lesions on the lower jaw of this species is really common, but I've not seen one on the side of the face like that. First thing - what other animals are in with it? Anything that could have caused this damage? Is there any chance that there was a bulge here (normal coloration) that you missed until it burst? That would indicate an abscess.

This was in a specialised venomous tank with other scorpainde fish. Lions, goblins, leaf fish, urchins and a skeletor eel.

It's possible that I've missed an abscess, unlikely though. He's the main character in the tank and I hand feed him most of the time with live food, very tame.
