What’s the oldest “in use” piece of equipment you have running on your system right now?

A pair of brs titanium heaters on a inkbird controller. Had them since 2020 and still going strong but make me nervous lol
Imo heaters should be replaced every year or 2. They're cheap compared to the rest of our setups, and a faulty one is the number 1 cause of tank crashes. 50 bucks is worth it for my peace of mind. I do have an inkbird on every tank though.

I’ve been looking at the Helios heaters. Might wait for a sale and swap out the whole setup

Life Reef skimmer I purchased in 2000. Still going strong today. Best investment I've made in this hobby. Thought it was expensive at the time but boy did I get a steal. What is even better is that recently I reached out to Jeff talking about an upgrade, he checked his records, said what changes he made (quality of life only), and said no need to buy anything new. He could have upsold me but instead said have a nice day and thanks for checking in. How cool is that.

This Top Fathom Venturi skimmer, I bought when I started this set up in 1995! Everything else has been replaced but not the skimmer. What a workhorse! Gonna be 30 years in operation. Bought from Championlighting.com, 1995.

Those who have heaters being their longest/oldest in-use equipment is a good thing but definitely one that would have me worried. My current in-use oldest product is an MP10QD I upgraded that was manufactured in 2016. Still going strong. Planning on getting another soon.

My heaters are so old they run by coal generated steam. It is just time consuming breaking coal into such small pieces to fit in the thing. :anguished-face:

I don't really have alot of "old" equipment running now.
I guess the oldest would be a 15+ year old Tunze 6105 that I use for mixing saltwater.
I have a 10 year old ATI T5 6 x 24 watt fixture.
Then I have a 8 year old Vectra M1.

My Tunze 3155 Osmolator Auto Top Off is over a decade old and I only just had to replace the original pump a week ago. Love it!

Since I got out of the hobby decades ago, and back in, what, 10 years ago? Nothing I have 'in use' is over 10 years...

Except...

I've got a old MAG pump purchased circa 1992 that's still doing duty pumping water from the pool up the slide for the kids :D. Haven't even replaced the impeller, as far as I can remember. Originally, it ran a PM Bullet Becket injector type skimmer on my old 180g reef. Never given me any problems. Ok, it's loud, generates a lot of heat... but in a swimming pool, who cares?

I regularly throw out or set aside equipment that doesn’t function properly, so my oldest equipment is a return pump that is five years old. I usually buy the cheaper stuff that is submerged in water and replace it every few years versus the expensive ones every 5-10.

better stock up on cases of bulbs and ballasts like hoarders were stocking up on toilet paper (lol) during the pandemic…
the manufacturing transition to full led is nearly complete!

Man. I've had some real old equipment that I ran forever (halides i ran for like 15 years, a mag pump that ran for about 12 years, several others that went over 10 years). My current system is only about 8 years old, but I have several pieces of equipment still going from setup including the Jebao DC return pump running continuously for 8 years (perhaps the most surprising thing) and my burly MTC Calcium Reactor (and it's second hand and probably much older. Built like a brick $*** house, though. Thing will outlive me, probably)
