I like the way you made your tank the centerpiece of the room. Your light fixture looks like great too. Fishroom is clean, Nice Job!

I voted "Above Average". I don't know if that makes me arrogant...[/QUOTE I really like the way you displayed your tank as the centerpiece of the room. Also, that light fixture is awesome! Wish I could keep my fish room as clean as your's. Nice Job!

I rate my tank above average, not because it's stunning but because I've had no losses in 9 months and corals are growing well. Even tho I've done a upgrade all the stock and rock is the same. How good a tank looks is only half the story, if your livestock is thriving and there are no losses for a good amount of time then your reef is above average, well thats my opinion anyway. Equipment is also no measurement of how good a reef is. I've seen some tanks with average equipment with absolutely amazing healthy fish and corals and high tech reefs that are amazing.

I voted my tank as average...it is 1 year old and I feel better about it some days than others. I have had a fat, healthy madarin pair for 6 months, (knock on wood) and my nems seem happy. I made a mistake with dosing and killed all my birdnests and a couple LPS/NPS, but I over came that mess. I don't know that I have the eye for placing corals...but I spared no expense on the equipment I purchased and that along with sticking to a strict maintenance plan...this is where I am: 20161120_143253.jpg every day the whole thing doesn't implode, I take as a win...an average win! ;);)

Interesting topic. If we are judging based on growth and coral diversity I would say I'm below average as I just added frags about a month ago and started Triton. If we are judging based on equipment set up, no doubt I'd say I'm above average... I didn't skimp there. Here is my 190 gallon reef about a year old.

We like to look at and drool over these BIG, extravagent reef tanks full of colorful sps, crazy aquascapes and expensive fish. These type reef tanks are not the rule, they are the exception.

So with that in mind what would you say the "average" reef tank looks like? What does it include?

Let me know your thoughts and show us a photo of your reef!

I voted mine average because it shows a lot of rock and still has sps frags instead of colonies. I think my reef display is average but my system as a whole is probably above average since it consists of two 100+ gallon tanks and a frag tank with a common sump and I have been blessed with the space to have a "fish room" I am hoping that my tank will be above average once everything fills in

My tank is coming up on 6 months been through one tank crash and lost all but 3 corals and 2 fish. Recently added rock to create a more fish friendly scape to cut down aggression. Not the proper lighting currently actually using a planted plus led light. BUT IT WORKS. Currently have coralife t247 led lights just haven't set them up. I would like to think I'm on the average path for being 6 months in.
