Hello I’m starting my first tank I should be getting a hydra 64 to start a 40 gal tank and wanted to know what corals I can stock the tank with that requires similar needs and won’t cause any issues, I’ll be having isolating islands for fast growers but looking for recommendations based on my light choice!! And any cool odd ball fish for first timers that I may not have on my list please add too!!?

You need to be doing more research yourself rather than depending on other people to answer this… You’ll learn far more about the needs of the animals involved and be far better equipped to care for their needs.
Indeed… besides that opinions will be all over the place

BUT If you just need a place to start I would avoid torches, elegans and most acros….they can be easy but likewise difficult to figure out what went wrong…
Some xenia, zoas, palys and shrooms can be pest..

Just one opinion but bang for buck and almost fool proof would be acans, favias and frogspawn/hammers along with most leathers and some gorgonians…
If forced to pick a SPS: montis, stylos and “maybe” birdsnest

But that advice ain't research ….

I appreciate that and yes I’m looking for everyone’s opinion to go ahead and look into their care to match them the best so that they all require similar tank flow and etc

Oooo didn’t know that and yea I’m in contact with a guy who I’m mimicking his set ups somewhat, I mainly watch brs so definitely drifting away a bit into other reefers!! Thank you

I agree with others about you needing to do more research. You should have a idea of what kind of tank you want, how much effort you can provide, how long that takes. What's your plan for rock, sand, flow, filtration, cuc, nutrient management, desired fish, etc. All of this should be on track before really adding corals. If you're looking to cycle the tank and add fish/ corals and "see how it goes", get some mushrooms/ leathers or something. But even those will suffer if smothered by algea/dinos or nutrients aren't available. Patience is key. Think months and years, not days and weeks. I suggest a couple fish, and get through the uglies before sacrificing corals.(add a couple softies so you have something to look at). This can be as fast as a few months(for experienced reefer), or 1-2 years if you're not. It can also last indefinitely if you just wing it and miss all the warning signs/ indicators because you didn't read and research enough. Hope this is helpful :)
