Does anyone know what these white bands around acro bases are? Is the coralline killing the base? It seems where this is happening is a very dark and thick coralline

I’ve also been watching this frag whither away and the band moving upwards. I should’ve thrown it away by now, but I seem unrealistically hopeful it’ll stop

Have you dipped any of them?
I’ll try and dip what I can to see. I don’t really see any bite marks and I treated with interceptor about two months ago. Some of the bases have receded maybe 1/2-1” over about 6 months that’s I have noticed

Looks like they may be competing with coralline for turf?
That was my initial thought. Does this sound crazy?

My theory: I did have a period of about a year of very slow growth due to dang white bugs before I figure out that was actually the issue. (after I did the white bug treatment, my alkalinity consumption nearly quadrupled). That let coralline outcompete encrusting bases and some frags.

Maybe scrape the coralline with bone cutters away from the base?

Looks like it’s overtaking the chyphastrea by sheer grown speed and may inadvertently kill through shading the other.
