Help me to use T-slot to mount my Orphek Icons!

Planning to use t-slot as a rail system for mounting my Orphek Icons. Only thing is... I've never worked with t-slot before. From what I've read, I'll be using series 15 t-slot. What will I need 1) to mount the t-slot rail to the canopy and 2) to attach the Icons to the t-slot rail? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

your orphek should come with bolts and nuts that fit into the grooves of the fixture - the nuts will slide into the groove of the fixture, then you screw the bolt into the washer leaving enough space for the head of the bolt to slide into your t-slot. Effectively, it will hang using bolts and nuts as the hangers. Hope that helps a bit; I've only worked with the OR3 but assume the mounting hardware is consistent.

M5 screws are a perfect fit for the t slot grooves in case your orphek screws are not.

Disclaimer: I have never worked with t slot. In fact I saw it and touched it for the first time when my new stand arrived a few days ago. I'm designing a light mount to go over a new build. I'm thinking 15 series T slot but am open to suggestions. I want to attach 2 vertical pieces to wall studs...

If you only need a few pieces under 4' you could try Amazon.

Also, keep in mind that t-slot extrusions come in Fractional/Imperial and metric - a lot of times it doesn't matter which you get so long as you are consistent in what you use, but sometimes it does matter (but not generally for hanging lights). Also - t-slot nuts with detent balls are nicer to use than the other cheaper style if you have a choice.

Thanks! I'm putting these into a 72" canopy, so I'll need longer pieces (I think). That's good info on the detent balls. I'm assuming I could do that for sure (not sure what would keep me from doing that).

I'm following along as I have Icons and was trying to figure out the best design. I'm not sure about all the pieces/parts to put it together and have options to move or slide the fixtures and also to have enough room to add more lights and or bars.

I'd suggest looking here for the T-slot. When I was pricing my design it was looking like the total would be in the $50-60 range for the whole frame.

You can use the 15 series, that's plenty robust for our application

That is a great looking setup. Hats off to you and @Reefer Reboot ! In my next upgrade in a galaxy far far away I am thinking of making my own extruded aluminum profile stand and Noopsyche hanging kit.

Something to consider with t slot is that the aluminum is only half the price. The connectors are what really start to add up. Lots of cool options though

I'm wondering with that much weight if I need to do something to add strength to the canopy. Especially since I'm going to have to cut the top of it for ventilation. The lights are 15.4 lbs each. So 6 of those will be roughly 93 lbs.

How are you laying out the lights? They are quite large. How are you fitting 6 in a 72” canopy? I am starting a similar build and am thinking of 4 icons with Orphek bars or blades as supplement.

Thanks I'm really happy with how it turned out. All the credit goes to Reboot. He designed and gave me a parts list. All I did was order and assemble. Was kinda like a big boy jig saw puzzle.

My plan is to put them on a t slot rail that runs the length of the canopy. I'll have the lights hanging perpendicular to one another so that they are side by side.

It'll be similar to this layout by @MantisReef (except mine will be in a canopy).
