Well some progress as the cycling process is moving along. These are the latest results. Just finished dosing another round of ammonia to see how long it takes.if less than 24 hours then I know we are good to go. Skimmer looks like it’s finally starting to settle down as well I am going to make a diy skimmer stand this weekend I believewater level is just a bit to high. I will do one water change this weekend and I can start finishing my setup of equipment and prep for fish and corals.

Picked up some more fish friends over the last couple of days a couple bday presents for myself. Lo Foxface, Orange shoulder tang, chocolate tang, lubbocks wrasse. Focusing on qt, and slowly adding them once established through that process. So far 3 bar gobies, vlamingi, naso, flame fin tangs have all been added to the display. Adding the more docile fish first and saving the aggressive tangs for last which will probably be these last 3 purple, hippo, and clown still haven’t decided yet. I will continue to search out more wrasses. No lights have been added since I am waiting on the list from the back order of the new g5, which is ok with me as I do not plan on adding corals yet and want to try and avoid the ugly stage. UV gets connected this weekend.

Acrylic Habitat Ato and Tunze installed, disregard the cord management not done with equipment so waiting till I’m certain I have everything to build the control boards. Very happy with ATO and the quality. He even did a custom water level marker per my my request. Also picked up 2 top down coral viewers of different sizes. I was also very impressed by the M.A.R.S. Unit might be picking that up as well.

Woke up very upset this morning and confused. I found my melanarus dead on Sunday in qt, this morning I found my super male pin tail dead in qt. I was looking at my carpenter and he looks as if he is not going to make it. They were all doing fine. Ammonia is at 0, nitrites at 0 nitrates at 10. I only notice that the carpenter looks to have lost some of the coloring almost pale and looks to be some white blemishes but it’s not ich. Could velvet have gotten in the tank from the melanurus even with copper levels at 2.0?

Here we are almost 2 months later and I still have not pulled the trigger on lighting. I have been contemplating between radion g5 and photon v2. I was thinking of the xr30 but looks like for me to get a good coverage and spread there would be a lot of wasted money in additional fixtures that would only be overkill. So now I’m thinking 5 or 6 of the xr15 blue would do the job. Or do I go with my initial plan of 4 photon v2 48”

I have the same tank being built right now. should be ready next week (im local to planet) I contemplated over lighting for a month and the photon was one of my top choices but it is on backorder. all the little LED modules of the other brands add up quickly in cost. I ultimately ordered 2 48" 8x54 sunpower fixtures. This was the best option to me. I don't have to worry about spectrum or not having enough light. Also 2 simple fixtures hanging looks a lot better than multiple fixtures. On a side note how is the Reef octopus skimmer performing? Is it quiet? I have not purchased a skimmer yet and am stuck on if I should go with something like reef octopus or go with high end and get a bubble king.

I will be building a canopy so I’m not worried about to many light fixtures should I decide to go with radions. As for the skimmer I love it however because mine has the external pump it takes all the space in the skimmer section of my sump But has worked like a charm. Overall happy with all of my equipment still trying to decide on a algae reactor or scrubber but I will do that when the time comes to control nutrients.

Are you gong to paint the stand? If so do before glue! Also if you are going to add a hose to the center pipe if you move the tap lower you can use the hose with just hydraulic pressure from either tank. I see you have bucket fills so might not need.

Thanks for the feedback originally I was not going to paint, but I think I am going to spray it down with some Kilz primer sealer

Alright so I finally after 4 months of being in decisive have decided to go with radion GS xr15 Blue for this build. I’m thinking I need 6 but possibly 8 depending on par readings. I’m doing a mix reef a little heavier on the sps side .Here are some of the light lay outs in thinking of. I’m open for suggestions

Mixing station looks so much better painted just waiting for the 1/4 tubing so I can connect the RODI just under the Versas. Versas will be doing auto water changes 2 gallons a day.

After talking with the Staff at WWC picked up the first half of my lighting. Ecotech xr15 g5 blue. There will be a total of 8 lights when I’m done. Canopy build soon to come
