Not much of an update. Ended up getting 3 Orphek Atlanik V4’s for lighting. Going to figure out how to rig up on light bar with a pulley system. At least that’s the plan for now.

Front panel done. Just need side and top doors done, then send to paint. Slow but sure progress.

I didn’t want to paint the back panel, in order to make cleaning and maintenance easier. So I fitted a sheet of black UHMW to fit over the back. I’m not 100% sold on how it looks, as it’s a bit on the gray side. Looks pretty good in the pic though.

What’s the dimension of your tank? I’m trying to figure out how I want to orient my lights. I drew this up in sketch up so I can put an order in for some 80/20.

I laid it out so I can move the lights around and figure out which works best.

Ah, I see what you did there. I was going to get some slide-in t-nuts and some M4x65mm screws to replace the ones in the lights to connect right to the rail.

Super excited, my sand came in today. 195lbs of Carbisea Flamingo Reef. Was so excited to get it in the tank, I unloaded it from the truck and promptly dumped it all in. I was so proud of myself looking at the cloudy tank and realized that I was supposed to rinse it first...

Oh well, I’m sure it will be fine once it settles out.

We have the same tank , dimensions wise. Thabks for the inspiration, and helping me making my mind up on lights. The orphek look to give great coverage. I was torn between the radions and kessils, as i completely forgot about these.

My tank should be ready by the end of february.

Glad I can help! Just remember to rinse your sand!

Seriously though, the lights are pretty awesome. The app really sucks though. It’s kind of a pain to program. I guess once you set it, you don’t need to touch it again.

Finally got around to finishing the plumbing and got the sump running. Took me a little bit to dial in the Shadow Overflow. I had to play around with the pipe lengths in the external overflow box, but now it’s super quiet.

I have to say I’m super impressed with the RO VarioS pumps. There’s a VarioS-6 in the skimmer and an 8 for the return pump. The only way to tell they are on is that there is water moving.

I’m super exited that I finally have some progress. Now to setup quarantine system and plan livestock while I get cycle going.
