Im committed to this i would like to see how this works out. Also It will be beneficial as you look at H2O2 and find evidence that supports that its bad or good. You uave people that say its great and people that say its horrible but nothing to truely support there claims so then it boils to a matter of opinion.

I have added H2O2 for the past two days. I honestly have not seen much of a reduction in cyano so my question is this... is this supposed to be dosed to the sump or directly to the display? Thanks.

Dosing in either location does not change the h2o2 end result.
Please keep in mind that this thread is not intended for people to start dosing their tanks.
There is no set dosing schedules or amounts currently
Thank you!

Day 3 H2O2
Water quality is running stable with some loss of cyano. Livestock is showing no signs of discomfort.
Macro is showing some loss

What great data and feedback is being collected

fast too

TW:

You are getting ten pages feedback per week and must advise people to temper the dosing and be safe, dang man' that's post gold there is drive here.

We had to twist arms
Swear on post name lineage that if they lost one unpredicted organism even with no control over procedural variables from our end we'd cease recommending peroxide
Getting attacked by all post sages for offering a single tank run
It would have been less controversial having people use bug poison/nod to bayer dippers

Now the gates are literally open your thread will drive peroxide work nicely in 2016 :) this many active people feeding back on a given genus has only been rivaled by Troylee's dino peroxide thread.

you know for me I have always been told what i should not do with no proof on why it should not be done. If people are not willing to push the boundaries than there can never be any change or anything new. Most additives in just about any industry claim to be new and improved but usually they just re-brand and repackage, nothing new nothing tried always playing it safe. The ones that are willing to try something new rarely record any success or failure they will gladly offer their opinion on their experience but without documentation its just that a said opinion. Which is why I am more than willing to offer one of my tanks for this to show and document the effects that H2O2 might have on a Salt water system.

That's really good feedback

right now someone who has never dosed is considering. Can't wait to see how they pan out regarding cyano kills

If sensitive animals and plants and safe dilutions are considered there won't be much safety variance at all- out to 100 pages, bet. Predictions failed / made then remarked post facto is funnest part of peroxiding.

As TW said that's no beckon for crazy dosing. Try legit then try peroxide sounds fair to me.

I have had 3 customers i service tanks for have cyano and i used his stuff.....let me tell you very impressed.....cleared it 100% gone....

I use Dr tims wasteaway and have for about 2 years. It completely wiped out my gha but I still get cyano in the sand.

** Note ** if you do use wasteaway start with a half dose or less. This stuff is super strong and has been known to ruin tanks when overdosed.

Here for a quick checkin. Things are moving along very nicely. I've switched up my strategy these last few days with a combo of a few different things including peroxide and it has resulted in amazing progress in what I had battled 9 months prior with no success (dinos and cyano).

Prior to dosing peroxide:

Now:

Lots more before and after pics with the dinos that I'll get up here soon. I'll layout my process I followed once I get both of these completely out of my system. Back to the grind.....

Nice guys thank you for the updates!
I think a good plan is 12 hour dosing.
The lifespan of h2o2 is so short that dosing timing is going to be key.
So in this case the 12 hour dosing while lights are off will allow the h2o2 to help reach a longer lifespan.
The other 12 hour dose is lights on which increases the oxidizing capability of the peroxide.
Same amount per 12 hours, don't divide the dose.

Doing a search for Seahorses in this thread came up with none. I have a 29G nano with 2 H. Erectus for 8 months now. Since the first week after cycle there has been a cyano problem. There is plenty of flow, along with a protein skimmer in a 5G sump. A couple of crabs and snails along with a cleaner shrimp for a CUC. Food is controlled in feeding stations with very little waste. 5G weekly WC with vacuuming gravel. Ph- 8.0, SG-1.026, phosphates and nitrates are undetectable, 72F. I have been running a 12 hour photo period with 10 hour moon lights. I just started a lights out period 3 days ago and now found this thread. I also was considering pulling everything from the tank and starting new. I think I will start dosing 1ml per 10G every 12 hours. Before I start, does anyone know if H2O2 and Seahorses are compatible? BTW, I have 2 reef tanks and a FOWLR with no algae or cyano problems.

This is an excellent question!
I personally do not know of anyone that keeps seahorses
I know they are sensitive but do not know the reaction to h2o2
Can you house them temporarily in another tank?

I do not have any interactions with seahorses and peroxide to consider. the closest reach is this: no marine fish known from our tanks are listed as peroxide sensitive (not counting one off claims, already sick fish succumb etc--talking repeating details in threads post analysis)

that in no way claims its safe or dangerous for them

I would email Mr Pete Giwonja look him up, best seahorse specialist I know. he's on HI forums about horses

I just read through this entire thread and would like to thank you guys for doing all this work. This explains why my peppermint shrimp disappeared about a month ago when I dosed H2O2 for hair algae. I did it for a very short time and it did have some effect but I stopped because I wasn't convinced that it wouldn't hurt my Chaeto (didn't seem to have any ill effects). My other major concern is the potential of negative effects to the pod population. Have you been able to take a look at that?

I have not gotten far enough to work with the pods that you can see yet. I am still comparing shots for the effect on micro organisms.
