Hi all! Was curious of you name the things in your tank. People are always surprised when I tell them I don't name anything in the tank. Do you all name the things in your tank? Why/why not? If you do name things in your tank what's the cut off? Inverts? You name your corals?

I don't name things in my Tank. Styx names his. I gave him a perfect name and he did not use it. We are no longer speaking.
This post just made me shoot coffee from my nostrils. Thanks...

Man if the fish would happily listen to me ramble about fish stuff IDK that I'd need reef2reef anymore lol
I find that, while they are great listeners, they aren't great conversationalists.

What do yall talk about?
It depends. Puffy is my best bud. Leonidas is a big lionfish always wanting to be petted (I don’t though :grinning-squinting-face: ). Nemo bites my hands every chance he gets. Bandit the triggerfish always steals everyone’s food. Fin the Emporer angel just started grunting at everyone. So lots of activity. Five different tanks.

I don’t name anything in my tank.
I have had a few fish that I have named in the past, but that was mostly when my kids were young.
I'm on this team. My fish are pets, but more than anything imo I'm trying to make an ecosystem. If I was trying to recreate a forest hunting ground for one of my cats, I probably wouldn't have called him Bob

I don't name anything in the tank. Not sure why, but I didn't name the tortoises, and probably wouldn't have bothered to name the cats either. My wife let me make the final name choice for our kids (from a pre-approved list ;) ) and that was the end of my naming mojo.

Every skunk cleaner shrimp is named "Steve"
All the Banded Coral Shrimp get named "Harry"
Any horseshoe crabs get named "Walter"
Any cucumbers get named "Richard"
My 3 year-old daughter named the starry blenny "Spots"
She also named the fire fish "Ember"
The Regal Tang is "Ethel" - named by the previous owner
most of the other fish and creatures are just called what they are
