Everything I’ve added was at a bargain as opportunities presented themselves over several months given I work with aquarists daily that graciously donate old equipment or frags either free or dirt cheap. Trying to be that guy at the store who admits they were intimidated by the thought and price of keeping coral and encouraging them they can do it on a budget too with a little patience.

Yes the stingrays have barbs, the Cross River puffer a strong enough bite to amputate a finger, and scorpionfish are one of the most painful animals you could be spined by but they’re personable goofballs.

My worst days have been getting tagged by an adult purple tang through the bag and the electric catfish we had lighting up every member of the staff to the point even guys who’ve been in aquatics for 20-30 years were afraid to reach in that tank.
