Hanna Alkalinity Checker: Low reading with Old Reagent/High with New Reagent

I just purchased another bottle of the Hanna Checker Alkalinity reagent because it was time to do so. I had one test left in my old reagent which gave me a reading of 7.03 dkH. I tested with my new reagent and it said the alkalinity was 11.08 dkH. I am not sure which to believe, but I am leaning more towards of the 11.08 dkH because my pH has been exceptionally high for some time at around 8.3-8.5.

Also, neither are expired. The old one always gave results from 7.0-8.5 dkH which is where I generally strived to keep my tank.

It's usually easy to tell but this situation has me stumped. I haven't increased any dosages. I even checked to see was the Alk leaking out into the sump even with my doser off; it wasn't.

I remember reading that. I will have to contact them. I will have to just do a large WC in the meantime till it is sorted, I guess.

Just be careful on your makeup water balance. I get nervous when people do large changes cause that can interrupt the balance of the tank.

My Salt mix is at the parameters I strive for 7.5-8.5 dkH. It's the Red Sea Blue bucket that I have had for some time.

You can try to hurt your Hanna meter instruments have a standard test HI755-11

I just did a 10 Gals water change (50Gal total water volume) for tonight and will do 15 Gals Saturday and Sunday. I will test the alkalinity again in about 30-60mins and see where it stands.

I just tested and it now reads 10.75 dkH.
