Hi everyone! New to the forum, and back into reefing after a 12 year break! Looks like A LOT has changed since I last had my tank setup, but I know all you in this forum will be a huge help!

I'll start a build thread once my tank is up, but I just yesterday put in an order for the AIO Fiji Cube 38 Peninsula and am super excited to get back into this rewarding hobby.

I'm starting to look into the needed equipment and supplies while I wait for the tank to arrive. My hit list so far:
- Sand (trying to figure out the coarseness, but figure 35-40 lbs)
- Rocks (30-35 lbs dry rock)
- Salt (leaning towards the regular Red Sea Salt over the Coral Pro after doing their online RecipeWizard)
- Lighting (no clue on this yet)
- Protein Skimmer (leaning towards the Tunze 9004, which should fit into the back chamber in the AIO, if not the Fiji skimmer)
- Return pump to replace the stock pump which I heard is noisy
- Powerhead or wavemaker (any suggestions on the gph for a 38 gallon peninsula?)
- Heater
- UV Sterilizer
- Carbon bags
- RO/DI unit (already ordered a 5 stage from Bulk Reef Supply)
- Tester kits
- Algae scraper
- Power strip (Tripp Lite or American DJ)
- Timer plugs for the light and UV Sterilizer

Anything else important I might be missing? Do you suggest any additional mechanical filtration, like floss, sponge or bio balls?

Thank you all in advance for all the help I'll be getting from this awesome site!!

Welcome to R2R!!! The skimmer and water changes will help with the mechanical filtration to start and then you can adjust as necessary.

Robin Williams Hello GIF by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment

what corals do you plan on keeping I can recommend a few
Thanks Bepis! Still mulling over the livestock as it's early, but I was thinking of perhaps a hammer or frogspawn, brain, trumpet. I had these plus a bubble in my old tank and loved them!

Would love to hear your recommendations!

Metal Halides are fantastic but are a little costly and put out heat
LEDs are great. For lps you could get away with buying one of these options:
2 Ai prime 16 HD’s
2 Maxspect jump
Illumagic
Orphek OR3s (2-3 of them)

T5s still are wonderful, the best fixtures Are ATI (expensive though)
