& for the record, IPAs taste like fancy soap.

I will stick to my stouts, porters, and occasional sours

funny thing is, a good imperial stout will usually have more hops involved that the average IPA, as a stronger hop profile is needed to counter the heavy malt/roast involved for the barley.

also, I take it you’re not familiar with Barley Wines?

I'm okay with some imperials, not all of them are enjoyable to me. But even the more hoppy are less soapy somehow. Husband brews beer so I hear all about the back side specifics of all of it. Don't even get me started on "mouth feel"

Yes, I like some barley wines but they're not super common around here so not a normal part of my intake.

Mead on the other hand....

bahaha I brewed some beer in my time. So yeah, you know lol

mead is even more scarce than barley wine in these parts. And that’s saying something

Not all IPA's are "soapy" either... some have a citrus hint (like the one I'm drinking). Some are horrible, I'll admit... I do try new things quite often. You win some, you lose some.

We have more Mead here oddly enough. Quite a few meaderies opened up right before the pandemic and survived
