Depends on the water volume you have. For me, raising it by 100ppm per day was about 400-450ml of Mag solution. You can do the calculator on BRS, or use the one below. Make sure to subtract the volume for rock, equipment, etc. For example, my display is about 60 gal, plus my 20 gal in the sump, plus my 25 in frag tank...but I calculate on 75 gal.

As you go up in Mag, obviously you'll need less as you get closer to your target range. Its generally best to not raise Mag by more than 100ppm for a single day.

Reef Chemistry Calculator

Yea or alk by 1 DKH or cal by 50ppm. Also he is running a 28G sp raising somthing in there shouldnt even need that much maybe a wayer bottle or so. Water bottles are 500ML i know that by heart lol

Haha. I bought some measuring cups from BRS for a dollar or two, one that is 100ml and one that measures up to 450ml. Has worked out perfect for me.

Yea they come with the starter kit but just adding it to a water bottle is easier IMO

I also bought the 1 gallon containers from BRS, with the little pump at the top. Its super easy to pump out into a measuring cup. I think that was only a few dollars to purchase as well.

my mag is about 1200/1280 will it hurt my alk to try and raise it up or hurt the cal

.No, just when you raise it try not to raise it more than 100 a day. If you do you could see a negative effect in your coral.

Don't forget that if you raise your salinity, it'll also raise your Magnesium. I didn't know it did this until somebody mentioned it on here. I just happened to just have calibrated my refractometer and noticed my salinity was a little low. After raising it slowly with water changes, my Mag shot over 1500+ and stayed for a few weeks. My Salifert kit wouldn't even change color after the first ml of solution. It has come down within the last week or two though, so I'm back at around 1430

I would wait a hole 24 hours before dosing again like you did, but you should try and break this nex dose up ten TPS in the morning and ten at night it is less of a shock.

Good deal. I too was surprised when I was adding Mag to see how much it really took to raise it. I even posted questions on RC about it, but everything turned out great. Are you keeping a log of your measurements and dosages? I assume since your measurements aren't in 50s that you are using the Salifert test kit?

Thats incorrect, I have both kits downstairs. Elos is done by 50s, each drop adds 50 to your total. Salifert uses their standard 1ml syringe, then you flip over and compare the number to the chart. Salifert is measured by 30s.

I won't disagree that it might have been that way in the past, but the current kits are as I described above.
