I have the purple and orange combo echinata one and then the 3 headed bowerbanki that is green, purple and orange. The two toned blue echinata is gone.

I borrowed a PAR meter from a friend. The numbers that I got were not what I had expected. The back rock work toward the top was some of the lowest numbers and I would have thought it would have been high. I think it has to do with the reflector. I have been considering trying a Lumenmax or Lumenarc and re check the numbers.

Something isn't right for the low numbers.

I get 300 on the bottom front of my 30x30x24 with the ballast running at 300w. All the way to the edges is 260ish. At the surface of the water I get 1200, halfway down in the middle I get 670. My reflector is sitting 10" off the water.

How high do you have the bottom of the reflector off the water?

These are the number me and JNye got on that tank when we measured before you bought it.
14" dry 1250 ppfd
26" under bulb 550 ppfd
37" under bulb 230 ppfd(was a bit shaded by a rock overhang)
This was at 400w.

The reflector is 16" off the water surface. Any lower and I loose too much spread and the edges are really dim.

Directly below the bulb at the sand bed I am getting 180ish that is approx 41" below the surface of the reflector. In that region I have seen numbers as high as 250 or so.

I decided to add one more tank to my overall system. The new tank is an oceanic 33 gallon cube 20"x18"x23". It is being light by a 250 watt reef optix 3 pendant, Coralvue ballast and 20K bulb. I am in the process of plumbing it to the system. It will have 2-3/4" drain lines and 2-3/4" inputs. Eventually it will house an anemone and clown fish pair.

Here are some pictures

My clown fish in frag tank just laid eggs for the first time. I thought I would share a couple shots and hope to put up some new pictures of the entire system this weekend.

Here is the latest full tank shot. My tank always seems to be slightly hazy. I tried running filter socks and still cannot get rid of the haze. It can be seen in the picture. Does anyone have an idea why the water is hazy?

Thanks

I had be planning on building screen tops with clear mesh for all my tanks. I finally got around to ordering some and built the screen top for the 240. It turned out pretty good. Definitely better than the egg crate I was using. Here are a couple pictures.

Sweet tank man... Now I want to have a surge for my tank... but that's not going to happen any time soon... I would have to put the tank in my attic... hmm... I might see if I can make one fit... wife might veto it though I don't think she wants any more extra places that can leak... had a tank do that once before.
Love the pics keep them coming.

I really like the setup.. As far as the haze do you run carbon? That might help...

Run about two liters of carbon passively in the sump 24/7. Change it out monthly, this should polish your water cyrstal clear.

I think the water is hazy because of your surges... the randomness of the flow makes it hard for the light particles to find a good spot to settle... it will settle I believe but it will take a lot longer then most tanks. I think the "haze" is good for corals though... it happens in the ocean all the time... it's called a storm (sometimes a storm surge:D)
