Yes unplug them to test for ac current.

Post a pic of the tank and algae.

Being undetectable in nutrients will not help the algae bloom. They will only laugh at it.
I found this new article am interesting read yesterday
THE CHEMICAL INTERACTION BETWEEN SPECIES AS AN HYPOTHESIS FOR A MATURE TANK
Oops....

You need competition is basically what's it's saying. More po4/no3 to have competitors for it to use up more space(rock).

Thanks. I actually read that a few days ago.

New problem. I seem to have an ick outbreak. SMH... No new fish added for several months. I have had a minor outbreak a while ago on my purple tang, but it managed to get past it. Now it looks like it's back much stronger. I will be ordering a UV, but I realize it may be too late for that and that UV is for management not a cure.

Do you have a hospital tank?

I have a tank I could use for that purpose, but it's not large enough for all the fish. It's a 30 gallon.

3 tangs, 2 gobys, 3 cardinals, 2 clowns, 1 angel, 3 anthias, 4 wrasses. Total water volume is 300 gallons.

Last night i setup the 30 gallon as a hospital tank. I moved 2 tangs and the angel there. Those were the fish showing the most symptoms.

Yeah catching them was not easy especially the angel.

I do not have another tank. I am debating whether I need to setup another QT and move all the fish or not. I am still hoping they will be okay and that I can manage the ick... not sure if that's just me being naive. I ordered a UV, but it will likely be a week before it's up and running.
