It's been a while... I've worked through a few hiccups, but things are turning out great!

Nice to see that the tank is doing well! How did the trace element dosing turn out?

Nice to see that the tank is doing well! How did the trace element dosing turn out?

It seemed to help in the interim, ultimately I ended up further increasing the volume of my daily water changes to 6gal/day to avoid having to dose anything extra. I took the reefmat offline for the moment so as to not bottom out nutrients. Still playing with it little by little. Ultimately adding Chaeto-Grow was the one thing that i attribute to the turn around in coral growth. I'm pretty sure my chaeto was starving my corals.

Can I ask what overall intensity are you running the coral care gen 2's? I have a similar set-up. I'm running 3 lights over my 210 gallon mixed reef. Also, are you running one of the preset schedules for the lights? Thanks.

Love the twin islands... wish I had done something similar.

I'm using my Apex to control them.

Well... I've taken a contract job out of state and toyed with a lot of ideas to either sell or keep/maintain the tank. Ultimately, I will be rescaping and making it a FOWLR tank! This will be much easier to maintain and I wont have to dismantle the whole tank. Pics later this week.

Swapped all my corals for some gorgs and leathers. Got rid of a few fish and added a Pearl Scale Butterfly. Emporer Angel, and Harlequin Tusk. More fish to come. I'm REALLY happy with the reshape and new vibe. Thanks to @Tiki Corals !!!

Beautiful tank! Love reading through the build thread, any chance of updates??
Thank you. Latest update is a sad one. Velvet. 90% of the tank gone. Currently rebuilding, slowly. I've been on a contract job away from home since mid-December, so I havent really done much with it recently.

I may be moving in the near future as well so that will for sure be an adventure. If I move, I'm strongly considering rebuilding it as a planted discus and stingray tank.

So sorry to hear that. Take extra good care of you remaining pets by giving them another chance in your reef ;)

I suppose it's time for an update...

It's been about a year since the velvet outbreak, and all is finally well again.

I've taken a permanent position back home and will not be moving anytime soon, hooray! I've been back home since August and working to get the tank back where I want it. A solid mixed reef.

I've played a lot with my flow over the last few weeks... 2x MP40 and 2x MP60 was just too much flow. I eliminated one of each and turned up the return pumps a little bit. Everything seems happy.

I had sold my calcium reactor when I took the contract job and sold off all of my non-softie corals so that a friend could easily manage the tank while I was gone. I'm now dosing 2 part and building back my calcRx setup as I begin to add more and more corals.

I realized through the self-inflicted "phases" of the tank, that a lot of small coral looks kind of silly in a large tank, so I've been keeping my eye out for larger pieces and have added a few since coming back in August. Also added some xenia and GSP for coverage, don't hate. Currently focusing on coral coverage and adding some easy SPS corals to the top right of the scape.

Tank is fully stocked with fish (heavy):

1x Purple Tang
1x Clown Tang
1x Naso Tang
1x Sailfin Tang
1x Bicolor Angel
1x Coral Beauty Angel
1x Dusky Wrasse
2x Yellow Coris Wrasse + 1 on the way from DrReef
1x Clownfish Pair - Standard Male / Black Longfin Female
1x Chalk Bass
1x Purple Dottyback
1x Chromis
2x Zebra Barred Dartfish
1x Lagoon Shrimp Goby
1x Mandarin Dragonet
1x Falco Hawkfish
1x Blue Sapphire Damsel
1x Engineer Goby
1x Midas Blenny

Great that your tank is doing so well! From the photo, your corals look nice and lush. I can’t see your video though. Look forward to seeing more photos :D

Getting better taking photos with the cell phone, but a good full tank shot is still difficult.
