Red sea test kit question.

I am using the reef foundation pro test kits and have noticed that the syringe doesn't get enough of the test fluid (1ml). I am under the impression that the tip that I put on the syringe is filled with the rest needed?

Yes your correct the fluid will not come all the way to the 1ml the tip holds the rest of the fluid. Just put the bottom of the black seal to the 1ml line

A syringe will ALWAYS have air in it when used properly and it is not a concern. It is how they are designed and you are correct, the liquid in the tip is exactly compensated for by the air in the syringe.

+1 on other comments. Red Sea actually has some videos on their website showing how to use the test kits. This very issue is pointed out if my memory serves.

Just go off of the edge of the gasket that touches the fluid. Use that to fill 1ml and to read the used liquid.

Go all the way up then bring it down to the 1 ml mark. Red Sea test video set by step of what to do.

The air make no difference here however being a paramedic I cant have air in my syringe so I remove it how ever the test results are the same so by removing the air it is really a waste of fluid but my mind just cant except it.

I have been using Red Sea test kits for two years. The last two alkalinity test kits do not turn anywhere close to the color that it shows on the card provided. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, have you solved it?

It's the color shift that you need to focus on not the actual color. I agree the color is different for sure

When I first started using this test kits my test matched the color that was on the provided card. Not sure why they changed it but it is really aggravating to me. I like Red Sea a lot, but his is one thing I wish had not been changed.
