Added a few sps mini colonies yesterday. Since my nitrates have finally gotten down to respectable numbers (15-20), still higher than what I like, but lower than the 180+ I have been dealing with. Will see how it goes. Gotta thank @schooleyosis for saving a few pieces from my last tank and growing them out. His tank has been off the hook lately, but he is breaking it down soon [emoji20]

Glad you like those pellets! I've been looking for a replacement since the ones I use to feed my fish stopped getting imported :/
They are really good. Fish are going crazy for them. Plus PE is a trusted high quality company. Try them out, you will be very happy.

Every since LRS has been their mysis I bought a bag and add it so they have LRS and more mysis and they are loving it. It will be nice to have something to put in an auto feeder. I know the fish love the frozen but sometimes I don't get home until later and the lights are off and they only were fed once. Honestly thinking I may have lost most of my anthias because of this :/

Yep. Exactly what I do with it. Perfect for the auto feeder. I mix it with spectrum pellets.

Looking good @mixer911! We met at MACNA this year and you were telling me about this build thread, I finally found it and got caught up.

I got my 16" shadow overflow and have had the shorter primary drain's siphon break hole covered since install, I thought it may have been an error since I got one of the first units. I'll uncover it and tune the system the way you have described in the thread!

I hope the holidays have been well for you and your family! All the best for Synergy in 2017, looks like you have plenty in the pipeline. I'll be tagging along!

Thank You! I am happy to hear you have one of our overflows now. Definitely uncover that hole! We have done extensive testing with both holes are on purpose. It makes a big difference. Especially if you have any issues with the overflow being noisy after the pump shuts down and restarts. There is no negative effects of having it, only positive if needed.

Glad to have you on board! Welcome to REEF2REEF!!

The family and I took an extended, much needed vacation this year. Finally getting back into the swing of things. This year we plan on making it even better!

That's kind of an odd mixture of colors, lots of red algae, or am I just seeing things?

Do you have an idea of what your flow rate is? IIRC you're feeding this off a plenum, right?

Do you have a pic of the screen after cleaning? I'm curious how vigorously you're cleaning the growth off.

The green is slowly taking a foothold and dominating. There is red in there, it's not cyano, it's definitely a Turf algae. Green is building a base now pretty good.

It's being feed off a manifold powered by a vectra M1 that feeds a bio pellet reactor and the rest returns to the tank. Hard to say exactly what the flow is, but the I would say around 200 -300 gph. I run 2 return pumps and the vectra is for the manifold/return.

You could probably bump up the flow a bit. Are your N & P reading pretty low?

If so, then the main thing to watch is intensity. Duration can be long still though.

Offhand I would say the red growth could've from low flow and low nutrients but that's a bit of a guess. Could just be due to your specific system dynamics. Whatever growth you get, it still performs filtration

Bud do you recommend discontinuing bio pellets and gfo once a scrubber is used??
