Had to take our 17 year old beagle (Fran) to the vet this morning for euthanasia. Long downward spiral, followed by not eating or drinking the past couple of days.

I know how many reefers also have dogs. perhaps folks can post photo's of their happy dogs to make this a cheerier day. :)

This is a picture of her (left) and another beagle we had for many years (Jake) on the right taken years ago as they sunbathed on our back patio.

Really sorry for your loss. I have a very senior dog who will be dealing with this too, and have lost one to a bobcat or coyote in the backyard, and many others to old age.

The thing I try to remind myself is that we spoil them rotten and give them lives of luxury and they go out more easily than we usually do

Sorry for your loss Randy. I have been there with 4 cats - between 16 and 19 years old and another one probably killed by a wandering wolf. He disappear the same day some other cats get attacked of something and a wolf was spotted 1 mile from our house that day.

After that - we decided no 4 legged pets any more - but then the pandemic hit and we became isolated (risk group) and our grandchildren got us a "Corona cat". A very helpful one........

The four legged pets are friends and part of the family.

Sincerely Lasse

Our “dog” died recently and these things leave a huge gap in the house when they leave. Woof.

So sorry you lost your pup, I’m sure pupper lived a good life. Here at our house we almost have as many dogs as fish! Yes we’re crazy, but love them all to death big and small.

Very sorry for you and your family’s loss Randy. The non-human family members will always hold a very special place in our hearts.

Even when you know it’s coming, it still doesn’t dull the pain of loss. My wife and I recently had to put down our pet bunny rabbit. He was in my wife’s life for longer than I was. We’ve been together coming up on 10 years now. The vet told us he was the oldest rabbit they as a collective vet clinic had ever come across. She made us repeat his age three our four times because she thought we got it wrong. Needless to say, I think we expected him to pass years ago at this point. But when the time actually came, time to prepare had no effect.

We have a zoo, but alas, a dog isn't part of our zoo. So here are more pictures of a few of our furry and not so furry babies. In our family, furry or not, they all are special members of our family and are loved deeply.

Its always hard to loose a dog. Such a selfless love they have for us. For them we are thier whole world.

When to mix up fish meal: When was the last time you tried a different brand of food for your reef?
