It was my first Wrasse... Mine was a transitioning female though and they typically go rude when they become males from my understanding. My Leucoxanthus is female still which probably helps keep the fighting down some as well.

I will say, the further along in transition the Mel gets, the more it's out in the tank instead of just hanging out swimming in the shadows so I may begin seeing some aggression.

Maybe but a lot less likely if the leopard is established.
We’ve had him about a month but the tank is all getting along no issues. Any issue adding a male Melanarus with a male leopard? My blue side is on the bigger side and been around a few years. I have a large acclimation box- do you think I use that if I get a Melanarus?

That should be perfectly fine. Especially with a large leopard

Another leopard is a good suggestion but I would go with a different species of leopard. My suggestions for fairies I already have pointed out in this diagram.

Then a small species of flasher like a blue or a filamented flasher

Finally has would consider a peaceful Halichoeres like the radiant.
I’m trying to get my hands on a radiant! That will be my next wrasse.. so far I have a blue star leopard, yellow and silver belly.

IMO a female Leopard would be best so you can see the doing courtship dances.
Naoko is nice too but this wrasse really need a lot of room when he display, very fast too. IME 75 gal may not be large enough for a healthy active Naoko

Yep she’s the best expert. She’s just not online that often.
It’s funny that chart you show has a Jordani flame as more chill but I’ve seen different.. my buddy has a large male it’s beautiful and it kills any other wrasse he puts in the tank. He told me it ripped the head off a fairy :grimacing-face:

Consider a Eightline flasher or a diamond tail flasher
These two wrasse are more suitable for smaller tanks. The eight line is larger, but both are much slower moving when they display, unlike the Naoko

Yeah. It’s a very rough guideline and I don’t know how the Wrasse guy made it.

But then every fish is different and some fish are just a lot more aggressive then usual and vice versa. Dusky wrasse are supposed to be fairly aggressive but mine is very peaceful despite being a large male.

C. lubbocki too. All of these guys are not expensive but the color cannot be beat. Expensive wrasses are the Eightline flasher, Diamontail Flasher. None of the rest are high price.
