I got this to f/10 at best but couldn’t get the closest branch in focus. But thanks I’ll keep trying to get better photos.Yeah I use the same settings/setup for top down as well. I have the porthole from Avast that goes over the lens and lets me shoot from underwater.
Extension tubes should be plenty to help you focus on closer pieces.
The pic you shot is good, but you can see how depth of field is causing focus issues on the branches that stick up. It looks like you focused at the base of the frag and that puts the branches out of depth. Nothing wrong with that, it’s just how cameras work. Something to try to help minimize that is reducing focal length a little (zoom out), stopping down to f/11 or so, and put your focus point on the closest piece to the camera. Depth of field tends to be a bit more forgiving to the rear. But sometimes you’ll just have to make a compositional choice on what is sharpest a d being ok with some parts out of focus.
You can also try taking two photos one focused on the branches and one focused on the base, and then stack them in photoshop… but that’s a lot of work.
