Not how I wanted to spend my day! At the ER vet with my bengal foster. He ate about 19 inches of the string from his Da Bird wand toy. Laid it on the bed in his room like I usually do while I cleaned the litter box. Turned around and saw him chewing on something. Saw the toy in two pieces. Measured it and 19” are missing. At least the rescue group is paying for it and not me!
Trying to make the cat vomit and doing an ultrasound so far cost for this is $1800. If surgery I required it can run another $1500 to $4000
Rescue group is looking for donations to cover this. I am hoping he vomits and no surgery is required.
I feel so bad even though it’s not my fault, but he is in my care.
Cats are not like dogs when it comes to making them vomit. It is a different med and many times a cat still will not vomit even with the meds. Which he is not doing. Doing ultrasound to see where it is at inside of him. Then either a scope through mouth to pull it out or surgery. On top of the $1800 we are now looking at another $4000-$5000 Rescue leader said being only 2 years old she will not put him and will beg for money to help him.
He is back home. Ultrasound sound showed no obstruction but weird stuff in his stomach and couldn’t tell what it was because of all the food that was there too. Watching him for the next several days and see if he is acting ok. It could still turn into an obstruction if he can’t pass it.
