I just hung a TV today and this didn’t even occur to me.

I might do this to hang my rack for my Sunpower and kessils from the top of my canopy. Not sure it will hold up to moisture though. Might need to coat it with something first.

I just ordered 2 tv wall mounts. My husband is mounting 2 over my 6' tank. He'll custom make brackets for a bar to go across tank to mount the 3 lights onto. The entire thing will swing to the side. Also, as the black boxes each have cords--no daisy chaining, he's going to use a hotdog mold: 3 cords in, 1 out. Nice to have an electronics design engineer in the house! Here is what he is using for the hotdog mold. The complete one is for cables.

Our wall mounts started. Need hardware which will be here on Tue. Plus hubby has to machine 12 standoffs for the lights. Hight is set for 14 inches I believe but he says we can adjust-probably by new standoffs I think. All silver/aluminum will be spray painted black. Waiting on paint to come with the hardware. We lucked out. studs were almost centered where needed for the tank. It will be nice to move the lights to the side if I need! Next weekend should be done!. Railings just sitting there for the pic. Need the hardware from McMastercarr for those. Gonna look sweet!

Interesting! I think I have the same tank as you - a 54 g corner bowfront with a glass and plastic top. I have some 24 inch Fluval lights just laying directly on the glass top right now, but want to upgrade to a pendant - maybe a Kessil or a Red Sea Reef LED.

Thought I could attach a swivel-type planter bracket on the wall and hang the Kessil as a pendant from that. That'll make it easy to swing it out of the way for aquarium maintenance.
Or I might even get two Kessil's and two planter brackets and put one on each wall.

But I appreciate your pic's and am glad to hear that I'm not the only one trying to come up with a solution to this problem.

Hi! I used to have 2 a160 Kessils on this tank. You will need 2 if you want the light to reach everywhere. The reason I changed the light was: 1 kessil started changing color rapidly, light looked uneven, when I contacted kessil and they wanted $100+ to diagnose and another $80 to fix, so I would have paid $184 for a used light or $200 for a new viparspectra.
Picked a viparspectra. This tank is a pita to light properly unfortunately. Best of luck! I dont think 1 pendant will be enough though.

I can't find them in my order history on amazon or dhgate but when i had two of those blackbox "aqua" LEDs from overseas, I used small TV mounts to hang them. The mounts were for smaller TVs (like 22" to 32") or something like that and I had to use pretty massive bolts to hold them in the wall since I didn't put them in studs. But they worked pretty well, especially considering how heavy my knock off lights were. The mounts worked well, not the lights lol.
I got the idea from a thread on here but I don't remember where or what it was called.

Some very awesome thinking out there! Love to see great minds at work. @Wen Sure is impressive! Hope to have our DIY canopy on Friday. Need to be putting the last coat of paint on at the moment. 36" tall stand. 30" deep tank. Already hard to reach the bottom so needed all the space possible to work in the tank. So nearly all the front and top fully opens. Ha ha. Can't reach high enough to open it let along shut it. Actuator it is. Very ROUGH first trial run to verify everything cycles and clears.

I used them as well. This was just during setup. They are great for being able to swing lights out of the way. I tighten half of the pivot bolts so it swings back to the same spot. These only cost around $20 at Menards.
