I will show you some pics ( maybe video if I can upload them here ) so you can see what we have, we basically went to the LFS and fell in love with the saltwater tank, we actually went there to buy a semi-aquatic crab for our freshwater, but when we saw the anemones/corals and the saltwater fish we got shocked of how beautiful it looked, we know its a slow process and we are also willing to respect that, so we listened to them and buy whatever they recommended us to start the tank. But this past Saturday we got a little concerned after we added the two clownfish they recommended.

don’t be so quick to trust your LFS, they may turn out to be good but until you know for sure, listen to what they say, come away and then do your own research, then either trust their advice or not.
Adding fish to cycle a tank is old school, you cycle a tank so a fish has a safe home, doesn’t make sense to me why you want put a fish in there to cycle the tank faster, if the idea is you want a safe home for the fish. If the tank is not cycled it isn’t therefore safe.

Just because the rock you bought was called live rock doesn’t mean it is, or that it is fully cycled.
I would buy the Dr Tim’s and add that, no harm, you can not over dose on it, at worse if it’s not needed it will only have cost you a few $, if it is needed then it will help the fish go through less stress until the tank is fully cycled. Just because the fish are not dead does not mean the tank is ready.

You will get load of different advice, even from here, don’t trust it until you have reason to.

we have proofed your live rock as ready, here's a giant thread for more proof

*its not that you are cycling, its that you are done. How else do they start MACNA conventions on time, for twenty years. You are not cycling, those rocks were cycled X number of years ago, and bac doesn't die on the ride home. the algae growth signifies what we're saying.

how many tanks in here are like yours? nearly the whole thread.

bottle bac makers want you to doubt what we never, never doubt. White barren rock can be doubted (and proofed with ammonia as we show) but not coralline with animals with algae, and we'd never add ammonia to live rock with animals that would be burnt.

anywhere a growth has occurred in reefing, the basal filtration layer already existed, its a firm rule.

Not trusting a LFS history on the live rock is acceptable, we show how to proof the rocks yourself without a test kit, without anyone's opinion. (done by viewing benthic attachments and pigmentation)

Hi and welcome from a newbie also. I haven't seen this asked yet.. But did you fill the tank with tap water? I quickly learned on this site..tap water can kill fish.

+1 on the Dr. Tim's "One and only Live" bacteria. It's never a bad thing to boost and feed your bacterial colonies IMHO. Your LFS may have the best intentions but any LR added to your system can bring in additional die-off just from the shock of new saltwater and so many other variables that we can't measure.

Best tips I ever get are the ones that just tell me to test my water and most of all "DON'T RUSH!!!!!". Get a second water test from your LFS. Enjoy the fish and coral they have in stock and if you see something you like, maybe they will hold it for you and you can come back in a week. This also gives you a change to see that they are keeping good husbandry practices with their fish and coral as well.

With all that said, your tank looks awesome and I think your clowns will do just fine. Keep reefing! :D

Hey Brandon! the tank is doing great! we actually switched to a RedSea 170, and transferred the live rock , the clownfish are big and fat. I want to do a build threat but I don't think im ready yet, cause im not really sure what to actually put in there haha.
the tank has been going thru some changes as we learn more about the care off the fish and corals, but we been successful as of today :). we decided to only keep 5 fish in the tank, the two clownfish, 1 cardinal, 1 royal gramma and a fathead anthias
