Adding a cooling fan in the lid of all-in-one tank

I had to add a small cooling fan this Summer, to a closed lid all-in-one tank. I had it sitting under the edge of the lid and it did a good job, so I decided to make it neater and more permanant.

I cut a small hole in the lid and glued it in, and it turned out quite well. It is a USB powered fan and I am running it from a small speed controller (sitting on the shelf to the right in the main photo).

That's the main reason I added a speed control - to slow it down and keep it quiet. I am sure it also depends on the quality of the fan you buy (bearings etc). Also a larger fan turning more slowly would move just as much air and be quieter. All in all, I am happy and it is quiet enough for me.
