Is is possible/recommended? I have successfully kept clowns with a very passive azure in my 75 for months. I just want to know if adding chromis to the mix will break the peace cycle.

In a 75 they should get along. It’s done in much smaller tanks with success.
Only points of concern are that most chromis are mean to each other (best to just get one at the end of the day) and that they are very susceptible to uronema (so be careful which you buy and quarantine quarantine quarantine).

Ok. My plan was to just get 1 anyway, due to the conflicting information I've received regarding their pecking order. Whether I buy only 3 or 15 chromis, I I figure I will probably end up with only 1 within a year. I will also definitely quarantine and use meds such as General Cure.

I have all three in my 55gal. I will say the damsel is a Starks Damsel, they are not as aggressive as typical damsels. I have three green chromis (they fight between themselves sometimes but it's rare) a black and white clown and a starks damsel.

The clownfish is actually more social since getting the three chromis. She use to stay down in her den all the time, then we introduced the three chromis and within a day they were all swimming together.

Yes. I have two ocellaris mocha clownfish, six green chromis and four azure/blue devil damsels. Included in the "pack" are another five lyretail/marcia's/red fairy anthias and a pair of scissortail dartfish.

The damsels like to 'herd' everything (they're the fish equivalent of my Australian cattle dog), the lyretails and dartfish stick to their own groups and everything else swims together. No fighting, no aggression - nadda (and all these fish were added at different points over the past 6 months).

That comprises approximately two thirds of the fish in my 200-gallon system, of which everything (and I mean absolutely everything) gets along. Even the inverts.

Full disclosure: Prior to arriving in my tank, the bonded pair of clownfish I acquired from a friend wracked up a kill count of approximately two dozen other clownfish (worth in excess of $2,500). They're called Bonnie and Clyde, and they're the reason I can only have two clownfish.

I also seem to lose a chromis every 3-4 months. I'm not entirely sure why. There's no aggression - they just disappear. Some day I'll figure it out, but until then I just consider it a 'reef tax' (like the 'angel's tax' on Scottish whiskey).

Not sure why so many people give similar reports. I have kept them in groups with no problem over many years in the hobby.
Yeah I have a trio that get along well! In with two other damsels and a pair of maroon clowns
