I'm still curious, are you physically removing the rocks and scrubbing them with a brush or something?

EDIT: posted just before I saw your reply above.

Your pics do look bad. Are you using tap water or RODI water?

no, they stay in the water. i just get in there and try to brush off as much as possible. When i do i put filter floss in the overflow as i dont run filter socks or anything.

Thats green hair algae. Get some more snails and clean up crew.

I do see a tiny patch of either dino or diatom on your sand. But the GHA is out competing it. Which is more ideal trust me.

Yeah, dinos started showing showing up a couple weeks ago. I figured as my phos has bottomed out. I turkey baste that off the sand during water changes but dang this haor algae is annoying. Thanks, will look into bulking up my cleanup crew. Any idea what might be feeding this GHA? I barely feed as I only have 2 fish, once maybe twice a day. Weekly water changes. I have backed off reef roids to not add more nutrients into the system. I dont dose, although i would like to, but want to get this stuff under control before I do.

Tank has been running since May of '23 and I moved back in July last year. Everything in the tank stayed the same during the move except the sand. Also upgraded the light, but i wouldnt be able to tell you what the par is. i was running a small 30 watt light amd upgraded to a nicrew 100w running at 60% blue and 10% white, ramp up from 11 to 12 and ramp down 8-9.
