It would make more sense...

To me banning 'live vertebrate animals' makes more sense -

And down the slippery exceptions, loopholes and definitions slope they go... that costs them time, money and maybe even lawsuits.

Snakes? Animals - Not vertebrates... Worms... jellyfish... etc. etc.

Easier and cheaper to say and enforce "NO ANIMALS..."

Done...

As usual, after digging into it a bit, title is misleading.
Explicitly name or not, I think people selling corals have been warned, no?

Corals, by there very definition are animals.

The policy says clearly names what can be sold and indicated anything not on that list can't be sold. Old vs new policy does not matter - their interpretation of their own policy is all that does.

Snakes are vertebrates? (Most reptile/herp breeders sell on morph market anyway.)

Literally all of your other examples are invertebrates so I don't really understand your reply.

The first post here linked to an article with no other backup other than the link to the new policy. Then the OP here copied/pasted it without any other info. What I'm saying is that the only thing that appears to have been dropped is tropical fish. eBay has been silent on corals in both the old and new policy. So what has changed?

so I don't really understand your reply.

Yes of course snakes are vertebrates....

Maybe my post was not clear due to the that I worded it and my use of punctuation. The distinction is "animals" and trying to distinguish between vertebrates and not is getting into the weeds -- especially given that you mentioned it should be "obvious" to anybody.

Yeah, I re-read this whole thread. Just people debating what live animal means. No additional info. eBay has always had a policy on live animal and a list of what can be sold. Corals wasn't on the old list. Corals isn't on the new list. Nothing posted in this thread proves a change of policy towards corals. Again, happy to be proven wrong vs people debating what an animal is.

I did not think that definition was up for debate.
Anyway - I suppose time will tell as to how eBay applies their updated policy.

Well, reality is a point of view these days it seems. eBay could very well completely clamp down on things and not allow corals. That action doesn't make the initial post correct. I just kinda hate fear mongering without anything to back it up.

I reject your reality and choose to substitute my own....

I agree this seems like a frivolous debate, much like if @KrisReef is even a real person or just a figment of all of our realities. (I think we know the answer to that one)
The wording is only slightly different, but its in how the company is choosing to enforce its policies now.

I am quite proud though that this thread has lasted 6 pages and there has been little to no intervention.

Why would there be intervention... I don' think there have been any personal attacks or insults there?

I only meant exactly what you said. 6 pages in and everyone has been civil. That's an accomplishment for social media these days.

My dad did have one of these early math calculators. He could almost get results faster with his slide rule doing calculations at the Texaco Research Lab in Montibello, Ca. He bought them for my brother & I but I lost mine?

I'm going to start selling human organs for transplants on eBay. I think the light paperwork they require for sellers should allow for a booming, if not brief trade in a very lucrative business, for as long as it lasts

I have a kidney I’d sell for USD$77k. No one would want my liver.

If anyone is interested in selling or buying corals and fish on our livestock marketplace then PM, call or email us. We have a fully functional marketplace and it’s way less expensive than what eBay charges its sellers. The marketplace allows for buy it now shopping or auctions.

So when will R2R ban selling of livestock? Well — final blow will be when all the carriers like UPS, USPS, FedEx ban “animal” / livestock transports? That will kill many online coral farmers instantly!

Betcha LFS around the world are lobbying for that? lol

Anyway — let’s hope not.
If they do how will they get their shipments
