Today I had this Hector's Goby delivered, and while acclimating him noticed some white discoloration towards his tail fin (cloudy area under the spot). I also noticed that at certain angles you can't see it (2nd pic). He also seems stressed but that could easily be attributed to cross-country shipping. Any ideas?

Sorry - though there are spots - I have no idea which are on the fish

Clear white light pictures and a YouTube video will move this along.

Yes - it is stressed - due to shipping - the spots are a different story - and should not have arrived with the fish - I would definitely contact the place from which you got the fish IF - the spots I'm seeing are on the fish as compared to the glass

I assume the 'spots' are just bubbles in the bag as they seem to be in different places on the two photos? The white by the tail fin is totally normal. I would get it out of the bag and into observation and so that, if needed, you can supply clearer photos under white light. Hectors are actually pretty chill for the most part. Once it is eating, they just do their own thing.

Yes, sorry. The spots are just bubbles on the outside of the bag. I contacted the seller and a few other people for advice and the consensus seems to be that it's an abrasion/bruise that should heal on its own. And sorry for the picture quality, that IS my white light XD

Okay, I see the area you were referring to now and I can see why you thought it might be velvet. From the shot, it looks localized enough that I would also tend to say probably a bruise but I would still QT until you are sure.
