Awesome tank. Subscribed for the Achilles my dream tang but I'll need a bigger tank first.
Very nice sump what glue did you use and did you cut it all your self?

I used acrylic glue the one that sets in 7 sec, looks like water. I used heavier cement acrylic gel 16 as reinforcement for piece of mind.
I had a company cut 60-70% since Cnc, water jet or laser is expensive, mainly straight edges. You can cut with a 80 tooth carbine blade run $50+. Don't use standard table saw blade.

Sooo. What did you use to support your floating canopy. I have a 70 cube that I need to figure something out on.

I used 1" aluminum square, tubing, but got thick 1/8 gauge, aluminum will prevent rust. Made an "L" and used 1" electrical clamps to hold the tubing onto canopy and stand. You will have to use brackets and self tapping screws to make the "L" shape. It's a lot of brainstorming, draw up and physics. I'm sure a picture would help more, I can take one at a later time.

Awesome. Thanks for the pictures. How'd you make the sock holders. I want to try and add that bubble over flow thing to my sump

You have to block off the chamber. And use an acrylic sheet to hold the socks. Get a 4" wholesaw and slowly cut the acrylic. Wholesaws can be purchased at harbor freight here cheaper.

This is what I used to cycle my tank in less than a week with Fritz Turbo Start 900

Day1. Added Ammonia concentrate (Fritz authorized reps should have it cost $10 for 250gal measurement)
Day2. Ammonia increasing
Day3. Ammonia was very high 0.8
Day4. Added Fritz Turbo Start 0.4
Day5. Ammonia .02
Day6. Ammonia .00
Day7 > Ammonia .00

I did test Nitrate but didn't keep good track because I kept testing the low end and thought I was testing the high end results of Red Sea. They eventually got to .75ppm on nitrates and then lower.

Patience is the name of the game, however, that's not the way I like to play. lol Extra $100 for it to cycle in one week with worth it for me.

I really like the floating canopy! I don't suppose you have any pics that detail the building of it?

Eric, I only took pics of the progress. I used miter saw for the crown molding, router to make a beveled edges, so light could sit flush, and had Home Depot cut my large board to make sure it was perfectly straight. For the Kessils, I used a wholesaw. Finish nail gun. Glued, Wood filler, Prepped, and Painted with Lacquer from Sherwin Williams, Applied 4 coats of Lacquer clear with sanding in between to give a smooth finish. To apply Lacquer I used a gun for smooth application. I have a few pics on the previous page but not detailed. Hope that helps. I think I spent more in tools than anything else, but I also love buying tools. RIDGID is my preference.

Fish Pics for Aquascape 579.jpg

My 2nd Chevron tang in this tank, the 1st didn't make it through QT. I'm really not sure what happened to this one. He had been eating NLS and PE Mysis lived in peace with all fish for 2-3 weeks. Then disappeared, no sign of body.

I got rid of my Extra Large regular Foxface and got small Magnificent Foxface. My son has named him "George" from curious George, seems to be his favorite now.

achillesfront.jpg

6 months ago My Achilles got ich. This was my prized fish and had me stressed out like anyone else would with their favorite fish.
I tried everything, I purchased some Marine Max (I will upload video later). After days of research I used this product however was unsuccessful.
The 2 effective methods of removing ICH is Quarantine with Copper or Tank Transfer.
Myself knowing that, I know there would be a very difficult way to catch my Achilles and probably stress it out even more.
So I decided to feed medicated food and plenty of food.
The outcome: Medicated food helped however the biggest improvement happened when I added 2 UV sterilizers. That and feeding plenty.

To date my Achilles is thriving in my tank. Eating the most and still the Alpha fish in my tank. Just making sure I kept feeding him, his immunity has kept him alive.
He still has ich, everyday I look he has a speck here or there, sometimes non but other time a few more specs. He will probably have it his whole life,
as long as hes eating and looks happy, I'm happy.

Yes Marine Max did not work, all that marine safe additives is a joke. Ich Attack recommended dosing for 6-7 months, by that time most people's fish die or
live by building their immunity. Therefore it is all crap, don't waste your money.
