no clue - the thread has been taken away from the initial post - so that 2 other posters can add their research to it. It's widely known that nitrifying bacteria can go dormant for months. No offense to the OP - it extended that time - I'm not sure why Taricha and Dan P are reporting their results here on this thread - which kind of hijacks the OP.
Is there a conglomerated thread that everyone's experiments in it on this subject?

well - seemingly - it implies that in additional to the intial studies well supported by past research - that nitrifying bacteria - are dormant when deprived of nutrients can 'come back'. The current comments want to pretend like this is some kind of miracle. In fact, its common knowledge and - well known for decades

Quantifying the effect as a function of time seems a very useful study to me. I certainly did not how much activity is lost in 6 months using commercial hobby bacteria, and I expect that 99% of reef2reef members would not know.

This thread? You also accused taricha of hijacking his own thread. lol

Sorry I didn’t realize it was his thread. My o my point was that several people have posted similar results over the years. I believe that Brandon has published he knew of a tank inactive for years. Also am in the hospital using my phone which is not normal for me
