Not such a fan of the idea this month, doesn’t make a lot of sense to me.
Me neither and I cringed looking at many of the shots, however there was a lot of discussions against quality pictures and high end cameras or phones used in some shots, add to that the focus on subject vs photo quality so this month potm was to gauge the effect of not abiding by technical perfection.
At the same time the topic opened up the space for some creativity vs photographic excellence and some members went in that direction which was good to see. It'll get mire interesting next month when we compare the shots to the opposite of this month topic
I may have misunderstood the prompt (or a lot of others did) but I submitted the picture that I did because my understanding was that we were submitting what should have been a good photo but failed slightly for small reasons.Personally I enjoyed it. There were some shots that were just bad shots period. But I think there were a few creative shots. I approached it as kind of like photography impressionism lol
It seems so. I submitted a photo that came out bad…but even one of these photos didn’t seem to be bad …anywhoI think a lot of folks took this prompt and purposely messed up pictures rather than attempting a good picture that should have been better?
I think I agree.I think a lot of folks took this prompt and purposely messed up pictures rather than attempting a good picture that should have been better?
Are you saying many of the people voting are voting for the worst pic though?I may have misunderstood the prompt (or a lot of others did) but I submitted the picture that I did because my understanding was that we were submitting what should have been a good photo but failed slightly for small reasons.
Particulates in the water can be artistic or they can detract from the photo. Wrong color lens can cause dull or off color photos of coral or fish. Focus shifted to something behind or beside the focal point of the picture. Glass is hazy causing dirty looking picture. Etc, etc.
I chose my photo because it is a decent picture that could have been greatly improved. Rocks and sand look dull and gritty, color isn't super bright even though the coral practically glows even in white light. Photo is in focus but the depth of focus is lacking from front to back...
No, I'm saying I think we all had different ideas of the prompt which made for a whole variety of different styles of pictures. I'm not saying how to vote (but totally vote for me, it might be my only chance to ever win) I'm just saying that it's an interesting prompt that left some room for interpretation by the submitters which makes for a challenge for the mods that had to pick the submissions for voting. Are you saying many of the people voting are voting for the worst pic though?
Yes for sure.So should I have entered this?
I voted for you bc your colony is impressive but not a super high quality picture. I thought it was a bad picture of something nice…I may have misunderstood the prompt (or a lot of others did) but I submitted the picture that I did because my understanding was that we were submitting what should have been a good photo but failed slightly for small reasons.
