Question about possible ICH in flame angel

I just introduced a flame angel into my DT yesterday. Behavior and appetite is normal. This morning I noticed the fish had some white spots, almost dust like. Within a few hours all signs of any spots are gone. Could this be ich or something else?

I didn't do a formal QT and premedication of this fish though I did keep in a QT tank for observation for 3 weeks.

It can be sand grains or possible ich. Often the cysts will fall off to regenerate and come back in numbers. New ich will usually stay a few days. Ich moves and multiplies in 24 hours daily. Check fish for reappearance and if so, see if the dots multiplied 24 hours therafter

While it could be random mucus or sand grains, the life cycle of the ich parasite means that early in the infection, when all of the trophonts (the life stage that makes the white spots) are all the same age so they drop off to reproduce about the same time. Watch for returning spots over the next three days…..

Looks a lot like ich. Treatment for all fish would be coppersafe or copperpower at 2.25 for 30 days in a seperate tank. Display will need to run fallow for 46 days.

That sure looks like marine ich, Cryptocaryon irritans.

Another option to coppersafe would be hyposalinity. But, all fish need to be treated in either case and no invertebrates can be.

Don't use ionic copper on flame angels.
