Question about sponsors posting for sale ads

Hey guys, I just want to ask here so I know the policy. I frequently see a particular sponsor post items for sale in places like the Reef Aquarium Discussion forum, and personally I don't care for that. I thought sponsors had to post in the sponsor marketplace forum. I recently reported one of their posts, I got a reply today saying that my report had been closed, but I do still see the recent posts in question from the sponsor are still up.

Is it allowed for sponsors to post in other forums? I'm the last one that wants to give anyone a hard time, so if I'm wrong to question this, please let me know.

Keep in mind, this is just one seller and I find it annoying and I know for a fact that other members do too, because this kind of thing has been discussed before. What would happen to this forum if suddenly ALL the sponsors got the idea that they can post for sale ads in other parts of the forum?

As always, I'm not trying to cause any trouble, so please let me know if I'm in the wrong here.

^This. Someone reached out to me directly from the sponsor and told me he didn't know better because he was the brand new marketing guy and it was his first day. Please!

I wanted to update this. I have now realized that I reported two of the sponsor-in-question’s posts the other day. I did get a reply from the R2R mods that one of my reports was closed.

I am now realizing that I reported one of that sponsor’s posts that was indeed posted in the Reef Aquarium Discussion forum, which I do think is wrong. That thread I cannot find, and I think that may have been my report that was “closed”.

Admittedly, I did report a second post from this seller, but it was indeed one posted in the correct Sponsor Marketplace. This was wrong on my end to report it.

To the sponsor, who I know is now following me, I am sorry for the thread I may have reported that you did start in (what I will call) the correct sub-forum. I do hope we can keep them there though ;-)
