Tank stands come in all different shapes, sizes, and colors. I'd like to see what yours looks like and whether you're happy with it or not. Photo Credit: ReefKeeper09

I had Glass Cages build this stand when they made the tank. The only thing I had customized is I asked them to make the stand 36" tall to raise the tank up a bit. I"m really glad I did that. It also has a door on one end (standard feature from them) that I find to be quite handy.

I had the stand shipped unfinished so I could stain it to match the furniture in my office.

The stand is very well built, and I am quite happy with it.

I'm loving this thread too! So many great setups out there!

Could I offer my humble pic, please? Here's a stand I made for an IM Nuvo 15 AIO that is home to my wife's Betta. This stand was supposed to be a prototype, it's made from cheap 2x4's and pine plywood, and I had plans on rebuilding it in hardwood. To me, it's riddled with flaws that I would have corrected on the next build, but the wife insisted she loved it, and so we've had it about a year now. Someday I will get to rebuilding this for my 15 gallon reef setup :)

looks great! im curious what people are using for the ''skin''. ive been trying to figure out what i could use for mine
A lot of stands are a simple frame made of 2x4 material wrapped in an outer “skin”. This skin is typically thin plywood like 1/4”oak or even 1/8” luan, which is a very inexpensive plywood. You don’t need thick, 3/4” plywood for the skin, the 2x4 frame is supporting the weight of the tank. You could certainly do solid hardwood all around. You can also use any variety of prefinished wall panel boards that come in an almost endless variety. There’s even more ‘exotic’ materials like fiberglass panels or that faux brick looking material typically used on the siding of a house or is sometimes used on a deck for outdoor kitchens. Short answer, typically thin plywood, but you can wrap a stand in whatever material appeals to you and fits your budget. Good luck!

Beadboard works great! You can also velcro it.

I used 3/4” ply, then trimmed it to looked finished. My stand is steel, and I screwed some magnets to the skin. The 3/4” gave me enough to inset the magnets and screw them in.

Getting a lot of ideas for my stand! Getting ready to start building the structure soon and wasn't sure how I wanted to skin it.
I attached my cedar set up - it ended up looking really nice just skinned in that closet lining with a little bit of finishing oil and beeswax. The top I did a live edge board on, and then just made a little barn door out of the same closet lining later down the line. It also stood up to the saltwater abuse if you like that live edge look. I *should* have used two live boards and widened the top a bit instead of using closet lining under the one board I did use when I built it.

Right now, I just have the stock black aluminum that came with my IM and I like it well enough - I've considered making new doors for it out of that same cedar
