Hello, I’m looking to add a sump to my 60 gallon breeder tank. I can’t drill it because I’m pretty sure it’s tempered glass and because its already set up.

I’ll be using the Eshopps PF-800 HOB overflow box and I’ll be making my own sump using a 40 gallon breeder tank and the Fiji baffle kit. I’m looking at which equipment to have in this sump. Any sump and return pump recommendations? Also, which type of tubing should I use?

Any other help and tips are also appreciated especially because I’ll be using a hang on back overflow. I’m seeing a lot of mixed things about them and I’d like to be prepared for the worst.

the Red Sea return pumps are pretty great and highly controllable. That said there are many great options from Sicce that are also great on the pocketbook.

My idea of plumbing is flex tubing and scotch tape (I kid but close) so I’ll let others chime in!

There are many submersible pumps available. The pump you choose should turn the tank water over at least 5 times per hour. I found that soft flexible tubing is the way to go for plumbing it back to the tank. Sometimes you will get an annoying vibrating sound with ridged plumbing.
