Those are E-5. Army ranks are different than other branches. That was before I went to Nam and before I was in the First Cavalry unit. :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

Here in Nam I have my First Cav patch on and my Sargent stripes. In Nam our insignia was in black.
You don't want bright yellow Sargeant stripes there as you may as well paint a target on your back. :anguished-face:

As a Sargent in the marine corps I should have known but I didn't

In a couple of weeks my reef will will have reached 40 years old.
Unfortunately I don't remember when I was 40 but I remember when I set it up. I was a skinny 22 year old just back from Viet Nam.
It is still running very well, still using the same reverse UG filter, same dolomite substrait but none of the fish are original. The oldest one, a fireclown is just over 16, all of the older fish died in an accident that was due to my carelessness.
The tank is mostly LPS, gorgonians, giant mushrooms and a few leathers.
There are only three SPS corals, two of which have been with me for a few years and are growing nicely.
I am not sure is any of the original NSW from the Long Island Sound is still in there or any of the original amphipods but maybe much later generations.
I still can't take a decent picture and the tank is not as blue as these pictures but it is what it is.

Sorry but your photos did not get transferred. As to photos research this Orphek Lenses. I have yet to try them but sounds good. Won them here in a draw. Planning on trying them with my Pentax digital camera as well. I would like some advice on that subject from the forum , and will make a separate post. My camera has auto focus lenses so I am thinking to put the filters over the flash . I don't know if the auto focus will work through them. That is my question

understand why I see people commenting on the photos but I cant see them. As to your issue you might want to goggle Orphek Filters. I won them in a draw here but have yet to try them. However I do want to try them with my digital Pentax camera. The issue is that with the proper lenses it is auto focus. I don't know if that will work if a filter is over the lens. The other thought is to hold them over the flash. I am going to post this separate now that I am thinking about it

That post is from 2011. They probably removed the pictures from the site.

Edit to add: looks like someone else already mentioned that. :slightly-smiling-face:

The orphek lens is for a camera phone. The orange lens goes over the camera.

Yes I know was hoping that there was a way to use with my camera. They are 52 mm and have the correct thread. Just wondering if my auto focus will work or as I said hold over flash. Guess I will have to try

Filters should not affect your autofocus. On a DSLR the focusing is from the pentaprism and I don't know where it is on a mirrorless but it will be at the focal plane not the lens.

Thank you Smitten. MS is something there is no cure for and almost no treatment.

As for the rest of this thread about lenses and pictures from 2011, I have no idea what any of that is about.
