Personally, any corners I’ve ever cut in this hobby I ended up regretting from the nerves it created. Sitting around wondering if my discount tank was going to burst would drive me crazy. The quality of the tank is what’s preventing your home from being ruined and possibly thousands in coral/fish from dying. Same for equipment, no-name heaters dying and killing stuff, no-name pumps dying and stuff dying, controllers not acting as they should and killing stuff. The more you spend on coral and fish, the more you’ll wish you’d have just got the good stuff for peace of mind.

At least buy from a reputable brand, whatever it is, in particular with the tank itself or you’ll end up with busted seams and ruined floors.

I was curious on these as well but honestly I don’t think there’s any difference between the alibaba and the Waterbox. Waterbox even uses the stock pictures from alibaba on their website lol. I would still buy directly from Waterbox because of warranty and support but it was interesting to see them so cheap without the branding.

That’s pretty wild. I cant believe they’re the exact same picture.

Very curious about the stands. What sort of aluminum is used? 2020 or 3030 or 4040 or something proprietary? Asking because I’m thinking of ordering one of these stands and adding some 3030 bars to it

Lots (maybe most) tanks are made in China. I have a Cade 1800 which was made in China. What matters is that you get it from a company that stands behind their products.

Also keep in mind that the cost of the aquarium will probably end up being only a small part of your overall expenses in the hobby.
