need help identifying this urchin. I’m thinking of purchasing but like to do my research first. LFS has it as a rainbow urchin but when I started doing research I noticed it didn’t look like the typical description. Any ideas??

I don’t think I have ever seen an urchin like that

I can definitely say it’s beautiful!

I hope you find out the name and that it’s reef safe!

If not, you may have to set up a fish only tank!

About as safe as any other urchin. Will pick stuff up including sand, pebbles, coral frags, heck I've even seen em pic up snails. May munch on a polyp or two by accident or blunder into a coral and irritate it but it shouldn't do anything bad intentionally
