Also, I heard they are very toxic. Can you tell me how and where they are toxic (i.e., touching or eating)? I searched, and there were lots of different answers.
Thanks!So they have tetradotoxin which is deadly to humans if ingested. I believe they store it in their liver or gonads.
They are safe to touch, only if you eat them you'd get the toxin. In Japan they love eating pufferfish so they prepare the meat and remove the organs that have the toxin.
In reef aquarium, only if the fish dies and is left to decomplse for a while that it could be dangerous for the reef inhabitants and you.
