Ive been able to for about a year now successful grow color up most across. I've had minimal losses and I don't know why... maybe Coral chemical warfare or some sort of pest or infection, but overall most seem fine. They are a finicky coral for sure. I've had tenuis, stag, millepora and some random other species grow and maintain color, polyp extension and growth, but there is one stubborn one.

It's a solar flare mille and only has encrusted a little bit. No signs of stress or pests. I just find it weird that the others will grow and not this one?

It happens all the time. You might find that a different frag will do better too. But to help them along, I snip a little off the top. It usually triggers new growth after a few weeks.

Yah it is a small frag so maybe that matters. I think frags need to be a certain size to start growing sufficiently.

Unfortunately we're not lucky enough to all have the same parameters and makeups so it's a lot of work for a new frag to adjust to its new home. Some will take off, some will stall, and some will die. If your seeing some encrusting and good color I would maybe try some extra light and flow. I seriously doubt you can burn a flare frag.

It's been in the tank probably 6 months. Doesn't really have much for polyp extension, color has stayed about the same. It's at the top of the tank getting a lot of flow and light

Was it fresh cut or did the seller let it start to encrust before you got it?

I'm still a newbie, but its sort of just random.

One of the best pieces of advice I've gotten is to move it. Give it a different flow and light and see if that doesn't help.

Question as old as time for me. Some supposed slow growers grow fast for me and then I have a green Slimer that barely grows at all.

I just lean into it and try different acros until I find ones that like my tank.

I had a solar flare Millie grow to a massive colony in a year and then just slowly die off for no reason I could explain. I love Millie’s but they don’t like me.

My stags are strontium pigs. Might be worth looking into?
