Wood stand for 520g tank?

Hello every.

A few months ago I bought a 96L X 36W X 36h acrylic aquarium. It was a great deal but it did not have a stand. Unfortunately I do not have welding skills, nor do my friends. I’ve previously built a stand out of wood for my 220g with mostly 2x6s. Can I build a stand for a 520 with 2x6s?

For a tank that size it’s possible but you will need a center support or two down the long sides and a solid foundation under it.

Common trend in then hobby. I like the idea of the stand being light weight and durable. The only issue I'm having is my tank is a trapezoid. I know this will make things slightly more complicated when it comes to building the stand. I'm thinking I'll be able to build additional vertical support where the "45?" comes into play.

Unless you can get metal cut, dealing with angles is notably easier with wood. A table saw and chop saw can make 45 degree cuts (or 22.5 for miter joints) no problems. Do you have pics/dimensions?

Alrighty here’s what I’ve got. I think the angles are 45. I’ve got angle measurement device coming in today.

I built my stand out of 2x4’s and it is holding up a 600 gallon just fine.

If wood can hold up a house, it can hold up your tank. The only issue I can imagine is having enough open space underneath for the sump with the added support for the tank. Specifically getting it in and/ or out. Unless you plan to have the sump somewhere besides under the tank.

That doesn’t look like 45 degrees. Looks closer to 60. A wood stand is still an option. If designed properly you should have plenty of room under it for equipment.
