As most here know, I haven't had a tank in a while. Had multiple crashes which seemingly coincided with our move into our new house. To this day it still bothers me in the back of my mind.
Today as I was messing around in the basement with my old ro/di source valve, I turned it on to clean a spot in the basement. While water came out, it was under very little pressure. I messed with the valve thinking it was just gunked up, still hardly any pressure. At the time i had used a line tap to connect my unit. So I started wondering....could the low pressure through my rodi system be the cause of my issues? I had a tds meter that was showing 0 tds product water, but I cant help but wonder if that somehow attributed to it as its well known ro membranes cant properly do their job without proper pressure. Keep in mind multiple ICP tests showed no abnormal levels.
Thoughts?

If you don't have enough pressure through the rodi... you just don't get any water out.
My thought was pressure would build and drop as it moved through the system, similar to using a nozzle on a garden hose, when you first pull the trigger you get full pressure and as the system catches up pressure drops. It was making water and reading 0 tds so there must have been some pressure there, enough for it to make water but maybe not high enough? Idk just thinking out loud lol

Sorry to hear about this :( But I hope you get to the bottom of it and get back in with another tank!
I want a tank again in the worst way. But we have the snake, and wife won't allow a tank again, at least not right now

Species?

Plenty of things a tds pen can’t pick up but I don't think low pressure would be the issue.

Pressure too low to make water , no, slow yes, need a pressure gauge at input, prob a booster pump
about 80-90 psi is ideal.
Now the Mrs's... can only help you with a ransom note... :winking-face: :D

But my question is, with low pressure, could that let stuff through that a tds meter wouldn't detect?

Quick reflection.
Tds ok... ?
Icp ok... ?

Water ok ! :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:
On face value, yes. But I'm thinking something else may have been going on.

@Crabs McJones could something have gotten into your systems from the new house environment? Were you doing any construction or anything after the move?

Also, if you want an answer about the rodi… just get it straight from the horses mouth and call brs or the product producer. They’ll know best!
Great point! They may help by telephone, but I'm not sure they will help here at R2R.

I would think not, 99.9 % sure on that ,@Buckeye Hydro ?
Buckeye Hydro is an active R2R member and RODI company, and I'm sure they will be along soon enough to help here:

Nope, just moved in. No construction or anything. This was a few years ago now, still lingering on the thought lol
