wishing we would have forked over the cash for Pukani when we set our tank up. But not unhappy with our BRS reef saver - can't make holes in it though but were able to put in some rods to create an arch
I was going to go with the smaller reef saver rocks but decided on the large pukani to create a large center island w a carved cave, and smaller lps islands in the sand around it

Ok. I was really nervous about taking a chisel to such an expensive rock, but in the end, it all turned out as i hoped. I cut the bottom flat w a hacksaw and chiseled a cave out of the big piece so this is going to be perfect for my pentagon corner tank. Its really cool how you can see the structure (polyps) in the rock like a fossil.

I really like having a big centerpiece also :) this is mine. Some really, really huge millepora I've always thought it to be. Yours will turn out well! And don't be afraid to take a chisel to a rock. Nothing to be afraid of! :)

Looks good! Your rock may make the water turn a bit yellowish and give off a strong odor for a week or so. It's completely normal with dead live rock like Pukani from BRS.

I personally just cycled 40 lbs of dry Pukani from BRS relatively quickly. I'm in the process of curing another 40 lbs of Pukani to throw into the DT (display tank).

I have hydor 1150 in the bucket. The display has two 1150's and a return pump which is the equivalent of another 1150.

Yeah there's plenty of crap inside these rocks. I spent two hours cleaning each batch and thoroughly rinsing them to get rid of as much decay as possible.

My 44g tank is probably 3/4 done cycling. I added this 3300gph pump to blast the pukani and My friend scabbedwings616 came over and helped me test it and gave me some amonia to dose. Gonna be ordering my kessil a360w in a few weeks too. Im going to have my friend master carpenter build me a mahogany stand custom designed around the sump im building (or buying) havent decided yet. But im going to add a hob overflow. A refugium and skimmer in sump and a mp10 wavemaker. I love this tank:)
