Hi all.

My gold strip maroon clowns eggs have just hatched in my hatch tank and I'm happy to say that there are loads! (i have been trying for about 18 months with varying success.)

I have noticed that the larvae are hanging around the edges of the tank and staying up against the sides. They did this even before I introduced the rotifers to feed on.

A) Is this normal?
B) Is it ok for them to be doing this?
C) If not, how can I get them away from the edges?

I'm kinda worried that if they stay close to the walls, they might not be eating and consequently die.

I have a small LED strip light above the tank, white paper on the bottom so I can see dead ones or debris, and black paper surrounding the tank so they only get light from above to see the rots. (I tried removing the black paper from one side but didn't really do anything, they were still against the edge on that side. )

Any advice would be welcomed.

They seek an area of light (even the little orange light from a heater) and current which may explain behavior and congrats on a successful clutch.

They have too much light, they are trying to get away from it. Cover half the tank. They will not eat like that.

I usually add green algae to the water to make it just green enough so they stop doing that. I believe it makes it less stressful for them and also works as food for the live rotifers.

Everything I’ve researched says to tint the tank green with phyto and dim the light but it should stay on 24/7 at this point.

Completely normal and one of the biggest issues wit raising clownfish.
Limiting light and reflections helps. Adding some phyto as well.
But what helps even more is adding hard flow.

Hard flow??? I have an air tube in at the moment, should I turn it up a little for more flow then?

You want it to be dark enough for so they will swim freely. Start light darken until they swim
Freely
