I have a Red Sea Reefer 350 and my socks would clog once a day initially. After the tank was running for a month or two I could get about 2-3 days out of them before the needed cleaning. Now I just put the filter socks in right before my water change to pull out anything I kick up for about a day or two and then run without any socks until my next water change (typically every two weeks). Constantly monitoring and cleaning or changing them is not worth it for me, although the tank does seem to be extremely clear when I use them...

I use to use socks in my 450 but stopped for that reason. I added more live rock inside the sump in the refugium side and I have no problems. Water is crystal clear.

I bought an extra pair for my 250 I think there 250micron, the ones it comes with are a mesh type the replacements are more of a cotton. I just let them over flow, and switch sick about every 3 days or so. Water looks just fine and polished
